Authorities said Bordwine Development Inc., improperly stored hazardous waste that contributed to the destructive fire on Aug. 7. Along with the multi-million dollar fine, the DEQ issued an administrative compliance order to the responsible parties for improperly storing and disposing of hazardous waste without a permit.

"Any contamination that's occurred they're responsible for remediating that contamination," DEQ Chief of Staff Robert Singletary said. "And anything else that hasn't been properly disposed of needs to be properly disposed of. And there's going to be additional costs associated with that as well."

The Grady County District Attorney's Office has not filed official charges at this point, but the case is still under investigation.

Authorities ask anyone who has purchased hand sanitizer, soap, baby soap or sunscreen from Bordwine Development to hand over their products to the Chickasha Fire Department.
