A 10-year-old girl died of poisoning after ingesting a bottle of perfume and antibacterial gel.The girl named Regina "N" died at the Hospital Juárez de México, which is located in the Mayor's Office Gustavo A. Madero, Mexico City.According to the Telediario reporter, Carlos Jiménez, the minor remained in agony for three days after ingesting both substances, which she would have taken at her house, located in the same mayor's office.It was until August 17 that she finally passed away.After the case, the Mexico City Prosecutor's Office opened an investigation into her death.The cause of why the minor ingested this cocktail of substances is unknown.It should be added that a similar case occurred on July 21 of this year in Durango: a minor died of poisoning after ingesting rat poison.The boy, named José Manuel, was rushed to the Maternal and Child Hospital in the center of Durango, after having ingested the poison.He had to be transferred from the municipality of Nuevo Ideal, from the community of Chapala;the journey took about an hour.During the night of the 20th and the following morning, the boy struggled between life and death, being under continuous medical observation, however, finally on the night of the 21st he died of intoxication.The State Attorney General's Office (FGE) reported that the death occurred last Thursday at the Maternal and Child Hospital, where he had been admitted.In a document they explained that the 22-year-old mother did not immediately notice when the child reached a plate with rodenticide, so the minor ingested the liquid that caused her stomach upset.Seeing him sick, the woman took him urgently to the hospital in the town of Chapala, later to Canatlán and finally transferred him to the center of Durango at the Maternal and Child Hospital.Despite medical attempts to save his life, the boy died of organophosphate poisoning.According to the head of Clinical Toxicology at Hospital Juárez de México (HJM), Jesús del Carmen Madrigal Anaya, intoxications are one of the main causes of care in the emergency room and in many cases, this type of incident is they give intentionally since they are an instrument to try to take their own life.And it is that, according to the 2020 Morbidity Yearbook, in Mexico, 21 thousand 235 cases of acute alcohol intoxication were registered in that year, 18 thousand 667 for bacterial food poisoning, 270 thousand 103 more for scorpion sting and 2 thousand 049 for pesticides.Meanwhile, according to the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI), between 2009 and 2018, more than 5,000 girls and boys between the ages of 0 and 14 died due to malnutrition.Meanwhile, 45 thousand 423 minors of the same age range lost their lives due to accidental or violent events (including suicide).It should be added that 11 thousand 105 of them had not completed their first year when they died, 13 thousand 526 were between 1 and 4 years old and another 7 thousand 744 were between 5 and 9 years old.
