Enjoy massages and beauty treatments while floating down the Seine

There are spas, and then there are floating spas. Dior has launched its first ever spa cruise on the Seine in Paris, allowing customers to enjoy luxury treatments while sailing down the river.

The luxury brand has two permanent spas in the French capital: one at the Hôtel Plaza Athénée and another at the elegant Cheval Blanc. It's the latter which has now expanded its offering to incorporate this unique new experience, to accommodate for the high demand experienced for spa bookings during the haute couture shows – which kick off in Paris next week.

The concept was inspired by the historic Bains de la Samaritaine, floating baths from the 19th century which were situated alongside the Pont-Neuf on the banks of the Seine, and widely considered to be one of the first examples of a luxury spa experience. There, people would gather to enjoy cosmetic and medicinal water treatments, steam baths and hydrotherapy.

Of course, today's version looks slightly different. On the top sundeck, Dior-branded deckchairs and rattan furniture sits underneath parasols decorated in the house's signature toile de jouy print and alongside leafy palms – another nod to the original design of the historic bathhouse, which was lined with trees.

Below deck, you'll find four calming treatment suites (one for couples), as well as a relaxation lounge for rainy days. Naturally, customers will also be provided with fluffy Dior robes and slippers (it's a shoe-free zone) for the ultimate in comfort. Should you fall in love with any of the products discovered during your treatment, they are also available for purchase on board.

Customers are able to book a two-hour time slot aboard the boat, which includes a 60-minute treatment and then an additional hour to enjoy the scenic river views. The spa menu has been specially designed for the cruise; choose between two massages (relaxing or energising) or two radiance-boosting face treatments – the Dior Prestige Cruise, inspired by the regenerative powers of the Granville Rose, and the L'or De Vie Cruise, which incorporates restorative yquem sap. An expert consultation ensures that all treatments can be catered to your specific needs. Once you've chosen, then lie back and enjoy the sounds of the lapping waves and the gentle swaying of the boat as the Louvre, the Eiffel Tower and the Musee d'Orsay pass by outside the window.

Following your treatment, guests will be invited to enjoy tea in the lounge or a cocktail on the sundeck, and to make the experience feel as exclusive as possible, only five guests will be allowed on the boat at any one time.

For customers who are in the market for something more active, there's also the option to book a morning fitness session, with an hour of yoga, pilates, barre or tai chi. Private half, full-day, or evening bookings are also available.

The Dior Spa Cheval Blanc Paris cruise will run from 29 June to 13 July 2022. Prices start at 150€ for a one-hour pilates cruise and range up to 1500€ for a private two-hour cruise for two people, including 60-minute treatments.
