When Kim Kardashian first hoisted her downtown Calabasas pied-à-terre onto the market several years ago, interested onlookers were wowed by the highly customized place, which the reality TV superstar-turned-entrepreneur and aspiring lawyer has used to tirelessly hawk her popular beauty and shapewear lines. While not everyone was a fan of the condo’s idiosyncratic look, all agreed it was certainly eye-catching.
Despite all the publicity, the condo never sold. But now it’s back; and the minimalist place is being marketed with the same $3.5 million ask as it was three years ago, back in 2019. The listing is held by the family’s longtime favorite real estate agent, Tomer Fridman of Compass.
Purchased by Kardashian for $1.6 million in summer 2017, when she was married to rapper, record producer and fashion designer Kanye West, the formerly Mediterranean-style unit at the Avanti complex was subsequently remodeled from top to bottom by brutalist architect Vincent Van Duysen — the same Belgian designer who did up her Hidden Hills mansion just a few blocks away — as a birthday gift from West to Kardashian.
In its current iteration, the “monastery-style flat” offers three bedrooms and four baths packed into just over 2,200 square feet of extremely minimalistic, sand-colored living space rife with wide-plank European oak floors complemented by plaster walls, ceilings and cabinetry, plus a wealth of bespoke furniture, light fixtures and flowing drapes.
Among the highlights: a semi-private elevator that empties into a private foyer, along with an open-concept great room spotlighted by a gourmet kitchen outfitted with high-end Bosch, Gaggenau and Sub-Zero appliances. A master retreat boasts a luxe bath equipped with a Jee-O soho tub, Toto toilet, and MGS faucets and fixtures; and a covered deck offers an additional outdoor living area.
The condo also comes with a $685-per-month HOA fee, which allows residents access to a bevy of amenities that include guest parking, a pool and spa, state-of-the-art fitness center, barbecue area and fire-pit. The units are also walking distance to numerous retail and dining options in downtown Calabasas.
In addition to this condo — which appeared on several episodes of “Keeping Up with the Kardashians,” and was used as an office for KKW Beauty and her shapewear line SKIMS — Kardashian continues to own and occupy her aforementioned Hidden Hills compound. She also owns a big vacant lot in La Quinta’s Madison Club, where several of her family members own vacation homes.
The Kardashians apparently also love the Avanti in Calabasas. Records reveal that in addition to Kim’s pad, no fewer than three other multimillion-dollar units in that swank retail/residential complex are owned by family matriarch Kris Jenner; those condos are reportedly occupied by various family members, including Jenner’s mother Mary Jo Campbell and the late Robert Kardashian’s cousin Cici Bussey.
