Frank Yao is becoming something of a local spa magnate.

The owner of Eastern Breeze and Fantastic salons just opened his seventh location, Spa Lounge by Eastern Breeze, taking over the location in Woodbury Village once occupied by the Red Door (briefly rebranded Mynd) that closed in 2020.

"People want to relax,” Yao says. People “are looking for healing.”  The soothing, tranquil setting might just lower your blood pressure the moment you walk through the door.

“He really wants a return of the old-school,” says spa director Jennifer Ella; a place where you can get everything under one roof. Still in its “soft-opening” phase, the spa is focusing mostly on massages, facials and nails for now. Hiring is in full swing, says Ella, joking that they need “both bodies and brains.” Every massage therapist is different, she notes. Already on staff she has a therapist who is also a nurse and specializes in targeting problem areas, and another who concentrates on relaxation techniques using hot stones or aromatherapy. The goal, she says is to help people get the correct treatment. Often, she says, “guests don’t know what they need.”

Even in its early days, Spa Lounge has a vast menu of services and two floors with 13 treatment rooms and lounges for women and men (who are really getting into facials, says Ella). Facials start at $75 for an express facial and go up to the luxurious Valmont, which includes an oxygen detox treatment and a peel, $420. An express massage is $80 for 30 minutes; a hot stone massage is $240 for 90 minutes.

Nail services start with a classic manicure, $25, and pedicure, $50, but there are many other options including the Cactus Blossom, which uses products made with desert succulents known for their moisturizing qualities, $95. Down the road, Ella says Spa Lounge will open a full-service hair salon, as well as teaming with a cosmetic physician and acupuncturist to offer treatments in the med spa arena. Packages start at $150 and if you want to make a day of it, you can order lunch from MoCA Asian Bistro next door.

The Spa Lounge by Eastern Breeze is located at 7917 Jericho Turnpike in Woodbury. The spa is open Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.; Saturday, 9:30 a.m. to 7 p.m.; Sunday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; 866-273-3937, easternbreezespa.com.
