UPDATE: Results negative, no monkeypox at UW-La Crosse

LA CROSSE (WKBT) — Two pending tests for monkeypox at UW-La Crosse came back negative Friday.

University officials said no further action is needed at this time.

LA CROSSE (WKBT) — Two people are isolating pending test results for potential cases of monkeypox, according to UW-La Crosse.

The university is actively working with local health officials to identify and notify any close contacts who may be at risk of getting sick. UWL will increase cleaning and disinfecting around campus out of an abundance of caution, university officials said.

Monkeypox can spread to anyone through close, often skin-to-skin contact, including intimate contact, such as kissing, touching, and any kind of sex. Symptoms include rash, skin lesions, fever, chills, swollen lymph nodes and muscle aches.

The university asks students do the following to limit the potential spread:
